Taping Carpet To Paint

Dust debris and especially hair human and pet find its way into the corners and edges of a room.

While you hold the roll of tape tight against the wall rotate it down to stick this section of tape and repeat the process. Begin painting at the point farthest from the door and work toward the door. Tuck the tape under the baseboard. Don t peel your carpet back when painting or staining baseboards or casings next to it.

Then cover the rug on each side of the tape very well. Vacuum around all the baseboard. Use two strips for extra coverage. The conditioner will cause the paint to dry much more slowly and allow the paint to saturate fully the fibers of the carpet being painted.

Select a type of tape that is strong enough to adhere but won t damage the carpet s threads. Leave about a 1 4 in. Run your tape onto the baseboard. I start off.

To apply painter s tape quickly and precisely without any special tools stick a few inches of tape to the molding and unroll about 6 more inches. Mix conditioner into paint using 1 part conditioner to 2 parts paint. Of tape running past the carpet that overlaps onto the baseboard. Get a roll of masking tape with a width of 2 4 inches 5 1 10 2 cm.

What you re doing is just getting the tape tucked in between the edge of the carpet and the trim. Use the putty knife to press the tape down into the space under the baseboard. Pull out a section 2 3 feet 0 61 0 91 m long and place it with the sticky side down on your carpet and the top 1 2 inch 1 3 cm hanging on the bottom of your baseboard. Now take a putty knife or 5 in 1 tool and start working at one end and push the tape down. Lay down a layer of masking tape along your baseboard. There s a better way.
